Welcome To

Madison Recreation Track & Field

About the Program

The Madison Recreation Track & Field and Cross Country programs is open to all Madison residents who turn 7 in the current calendar year through 8th grade. We practice on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm to 7pm and most meets are held on Sundays. We are part of the Lakeland League and compete with towns and teams mainly from Morris County.

In the Spring, we begin practices the week after after Daylight Savings with regular meets held through April and May and Championship meets in early June. Track practices are held at the Madison High School. Meets are held at Madison's or the the host town's high school track. The events are 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 4x100m relay, Shot Put, and Long Jump. Athletes can compete in a maximum of two individual track events, one relay, and one field event (though most do less).

In the Fall, we begin practices the week before Labor Day with regular meets held thru October. We practice at Kitchell Pond in Loantaka Park. Meets are held at Greystone Park. Runners race 1600m (7-8) 2000m (9-10), 3000m (11-12) or 4000m (13-15) depending upon ago group.

Our main goal is to be welcoming and supportive to all runners. Some runners practice with us, but don't race while others race, but don't practice with us due to other commitments. Some runners focus on the shorter distances while other prefer to go long. We want our runners learn to enjoy running and competing - hopefully for life.

Registration for spring season is now open!

Get registered for your league before all the spots are filled.

Volunteers Needed!

This program is run entirely by parent volunteers. We need help running practices (a great way to get some exercise) and organizing meets (starters, timers, marshals, scorekeepers, and statisticians). Please, please do what you can to make this the great program that it is.
